The artwork for 'Transformation' was created over Easter Weekend 2005. I wanted to have something that was organic with an element of technology. I knew that I wanted to create a diorama that I could photograph.
One cover that I was using as an influence was COP's Cyber Core Compilation that my good bud Evan Sornstein created. Another was Mouth By Mouth by His Name Is Alive.
So, I went to the Oakland Flower Market and picked up the most interesting and appropriate flowers we could find. My intention was to wrap wires around the flowers and submerge them in water to give them an other-worldly feel. That was the intent, at least. I originally thought of China Mums because the pedals are so abundant and spread out. After much experimentation, I got the flowers to stay submerged by tying weight to them. I tied a massive rusty nail to the Mum. Here is an outside view that's actually kinda cool.
